Thank you for purchasing the Wherifone™. This guide will walk you

through the following steps to get started:

• Activate your account.

• Charge the battery.

• Logon to the Location Service Center and set up the device.

To activate your account please have the following information available:

• Personal Information (Address, Date of Birth, etc).

• Credit card account number and expiration date.

• Wherifone™ IMEI number – this is the 15 digit number found on your

Wherifone™ packaging or on the back of your device.

• Wherifone™ serial number – this is the 11 digit number found on your

Wherifone™ packaging or on the back of your device.

• SIM card serial number – this is the 20 digit number found on your

SIM card.

• The Service Plan option you have selected – you can get the latest

Plan Option information from our web site at www.wherify.com.

In the US or Canada activate the device by calling 1-877-WHERIFY

(1-877-943-7439) and a Wherify Customer Care Representative will

assist you. Your account will be activated within 1 business day after

contacting our Customer Care Representative.

To activate your account outside of the US and Canada, you will

need to follow the separate activation instructions provided by your

Service Provider.

• Plug the charger cable into the Wherifone™.

• Plug the other end of the charger cable to a wall outlet.

• Charge the Wherifone™ for a minimum of three hours. Be sure to

fully charge the device prior to going to the next step.

• Take the SIM card out of the SIM card packaging.

• Insert the SIM card into the SIM card drawer on the top of the

Wherifone™ and snap in the SIM card with the notched corner in the

top right and the GOLD pads facing forward.

• Turn on the device by pressing the Power On button on the side of

the phone.

The ability of the GPS (satellite) signal to get to the Wherifone™ will

vary depending on the environment in which the device is located. The

optimum condition to obtain accurate GPS performance is when there

is no obstruction between the open sky and your device. This is when

the GPS signal strength is highest. The signal strength may be affected

adversely in certain conditions such as under metal or concrete structures,

in the middle of an office building or near a powerful radio or other

electronic devices.

It is not uncommon for mobile phones to be misplaced, dropped or

treated roughly, especially by active children. You should do the

following to increase your ability to locate your child and the device,

and to protect the device from damage.

To wirelessly program phone numbers to your device, connect online to the

Wherify Location Service Center through a computer with Internet access.

• Go to http://www.wherify.com/ and enter your Subscriber ID and

PIN number.

• Next, program the 3 speed dial buttons or the Phone Book (which can

store up to 20 phone numbers) as needed. Select “Set Button For

Call” from the drop-down menu and enter the name and phone

number you wish to program. Then click on “Set Button” for the

speed dial buttons or “Add” icon for Phone Book numbers. You are

now ready to make a phone call.

• As part of the Wherifone set up, perform your first locate with the

device outside and exposed to as much open sky as possible. This is

also suggested in cases when you have turned off your phone and

have traveled more than 300 miles (500 km) away from your original

destination when the Wherifone was last used.

• Place the device in a safe place outside facing the open sky.

• Go to your computer and logon to the http://www.wherify.com/.

• Select Locate Device from the left panel.

• Click on Locate Now.

• The Location Service Center will request a location from the device

and will report the location information back to you. Also try to

schedule a recurring location request to your Wherifone.

You can also request a locate by:

• Calling the Wherify Customer Care Center (1-877-WHERIFY or

1-877-943-7439); or

• Using your mobile phone’s text messaging capability to SMS the

number 562283 (LOCATE). Check the website for more instructions.

Out in the open. The device works at its optimum when

the GPS antenna has clear access to satellite signals. Try

to minimize items that could potentially cover the front

side of the device. Hang the device on the outer side of a

child’s bagpack or on their belt using the carabineer or

belt clip case. The device will perform best when the child

is outside and away from tall buildings and foliage.

positioning. Make sure the front side of

the Wherifone™ is facing upward or outward. If your

child places the device inside their shirt, or pants, or

backpack pocket, place it with the front side of the

device facing outwards.

In a car. When you are in a car, position the device face up

and towards a window to get the best access to the sky.

Good network coverage. The device will not work in

area where there is no mobile phone cellular coverage.
